Hiring an interior designer can seem like a big step, and I may be a little biased but let me explain when and why it might be a good choice:
"The essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live"

Home projects take a lot of time... time you could spend elsewhere
Designing the perfect home is more than just buying the right things. It's making sure what you are looking for not only solves a problem, but is made of exceptional quality, the right size, and fits the space in a coherent aesthetic. This gets even more complicated when it comes to furniture- does it wear well? Does the upholstery pill or will it stand up to my kids and dogs? What's the maintenance to keep up this new leather sofa? Is it even comfortable or just for looking at?!
These questions and all the research involved take up SO much time. Maybe it's best to leave it to someone trained to know what fabrics have high Wyzenbeek counts (a test for how durable a fabric is), or can even work with manufacturers to create the custom solution. All of this searching for the right item could be spent with your family, or doing something you love and helps guarantee that you won't be wasting your money on a fancy sofa that falls apart in two years and is miserable to sit on.
Size Matters...
I'll write more posts later about how to work with scale, but it matters. Have you ever bought something off Amazon and said "Wow... I thought it would be bigger."
Nothing is more devastating than picking out an amazing chandelier or piece of art, going through the work of installing it, and finding wide open gaps that make your prized possession look a little ... dinky.
Maybe you've looked at it too long to see the solution?
It never hurts to have a fresh set of eyes on a problem. Especially when those eyes are trained to know how to make spaces work.
When it comes to layouts of important places like the kitchen, we've spent numerous hours studying layouts, knowing clearances, drawing details of the way cabinets should be constructed, etc. Too much time honestly.... We've earned it through loads of mistakes in design school, trial and error resulting in redlines, and reading plenty of books that tell us just how far away the dishwasher should be from the sink from the fridge from the stove. (Fun fact, it's a triangle configuration).
If you've been working in a space that makes you work for it, not the other way around, it's easy to be used to the problem. But having a trained eye to pitch some ideas is never a bad thing.
Big plans? Oh my!
Looking at a reno? Oh yes... that's quite the undertaking. It's easy to get overwhelmed - especially when you're pairing that with your own work load. Even if you know exactly what you want, you may want a hand describing it to the GC... or better yet, let us handle the GC all together.
Big questions arise like- Do we need a permit? Or does that outlet need to be a GFCI? Wet-rated lighting fixture or no? Is it worth it to move that sink?
That's where having us comes in handy. Not onl
y can we create plans for your contractor, we can make sure that we've got it all covered- That the flooring we want will hold up to the space, or everything comes in as ordered and is all built to your expectations.
You've got something specific in mind
It's our job to know where to find things- you want a four poster bed with brass accents in a deep brown? Yup- know where that is.
We want to see you live with quality unique pieces that won't feel like you ripped the page out of the magazine but that you're the one that inspired the magazine, As great as Pinterest is- trust me, it's like my fav- purely copying from there doesn't always get you the right results.
We know where to get the items to make the look and what's making that look vibe like it does. Design isn't one size- it's a living breathing thing.
Or, You don't know what you want to do!
An interior designer's best tool is their empathy- their ability to connect to who they are designing for and ask the right questions to figure out what it is that will make you shine in your space.
We are constantly searching for new ideas and tweaking them and testing them to make them fit for you. It's not as easy as going to the store and picking up a box of modern design or transitional. It's more like a home cooked meal, where everything is to taste. We combine elements you love in ways that make the
m talk to each other to say one thing: you!
Together- we can create something the world has never seen before and, man!.. will that space look so tailored- it was made for you!
